About this Costume
Construction Details:
I somehow managed to find a perfect red glitter satin, and thought that the totally gaudy fabric would be perfect for the character, given her tendency to sparkle ~ ☆ The fabric is a huge pain, however, and I don't think I will ever attempt the gloves because I know that the tiny seams will rip right out. I'm just glad that I went with the non-metallic gimp braid for the trim instead of the even gaudier metallic kind, since that might have been too much! All of the gimp braid is handsewn on, which took forever.

I got a new wig for this, and bought some gloves online, which I debuted at Fanime 2011. It looks much better with the new gloves and new wig! I also have a wand that I got in the dollar bin at Joann's.

Styling Notes
I originally used a blonde Amphigory wig with curled wefts sewn into the crown for more volume, but am unhappy with the results, so I am planning on purchasing another wig for the next time I wear it. Later, I bought a hime wig from Cosplay-Wig on Ebay, which is much better. It has a lot of volume and curl to it, and suits the character well. (It is the same wig I use for Lady Blackpearl -- I love it when wigs can do double-duty :) )
