About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
My friend and I love Doctor Who. We wanted to make something impressive, yet undercosplayed. We decided on the Angels for several reasons. Everyone always asks how we made it look like stone and/or how we made the wings. Firstly, the stone look is just paint. I think the difference is how we painted it. We had 3 shades of grey, and a little bit of black and white. The middle grey got painted all over the dress, the darkest grey got painted in the creases, the lightest grey on the tops of the creases. We then lightly splattered the black and white all over the whole outfit to make it look more like stone. The wings are made of EVA foam (what yoga mats are made of) over a PVC frame, with a harness that goes underneath the dress that the wings fit into. The hair and face are sculpted with Model Magic over casts of our head and face, respectively. Check my blog for extremely detailed progress posts on the Angels!
- Personal Thoughts:
- This is one of my favorite costumes, but it's kind of hard to wear. We first made them to wear at Dragon*Con 2010.
For a REALLY LONG write up on how we made these, see my blog: http://kilayicosplay.blogspot.com/search/label/weeping%20angel
