About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I did a lot of firsts on this costume. It was my first time heavily styling a wig, casting, making armor, as well as making a sword and shield.
I made the final designs as a mix of concept art and the final renders. Basically I used whichever source I could find clearer details of the pieces I was working on at the moment.
I molded and cast the circular belt pieces out of resin. The armor is styrene coated craft foam.
The sword is two layers of 3/4" extruded insulation foam with a layer of .04" thick polystyrene running through the entirety of the sword. I wanted to have stability running through the entire sword, instead of just a pole through the middle, as well as keep it very lightweight. I covered the entire surface with a coat of Bondo, which I them filled in the low spots with spackle, primed and painted as usual.
The shield was carved from a double layer of 3/4" thick extruded insulation foam, with 1/4" craft foam accents. The whole surface was covered in Bondo, then primed and painted. - Personal Thoughts:
- I love this costume, but it is kind of hard to wear.
As always, newest photos are at the top :P
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- This was my first time really doing a lot to a wig. I wanted to have a really thick braid, as the character has in the game, which I haven't ever seen another cosplayer emulate. I added 3 packs of extensions, which I sewed into wefts, over quilt batting to the wig.
