Construction Details:

This costume was a bit of a headache to make as even though fukus are fairly simple, I couldn't find any of the proper colors I needed for Sailor Mercury. As a result I custom dyed all the polyester satin used for the collar, skirting, glove rolls, and the bows. The boots were simply painted to matched, and the body suit is a 4-way stretch dance-wear knit.

Personal Thoughts:

Like every other girl my age, I loved sailor moon when I was little. Mercury was my favorite so when some friends asked me if I'd be interesting in joining an inner scouts group, I was all over it! But it was a labor of love. While Fukus are fun and fairy easy, custom dying/painting anything and everything blue on the whole costume was a pain. But once you get down dying polyester, it's not too bad. Being in this costume resulted in some of the most fun I have had at a convention in my life, nuff said. Oh yeah, and BUBBLES!!!!!!!!!!
