About this Costume
Construction Details:
This costume sure looked deceivingly easy before I started it haha. I basically altered a simple Disney princess pattern for the skirt & bodice to what I needed since there was nothing to go off that I liked. For the bodice and front panel of the skirt I took a wedding fabric and overlaid it with a gauze fabric of the color I needed to achieve the pattern Rapunzel has on hers. For the skirt design I hand-painted the border. I wanted to embroider it but realistically it would be too difficult for me without some sort of special machine or a lot of time. The lace and sleeves were added but I ran out of time for a petticoat so I'll have to complete that before I wear this again. But all in all, despite it not being as perfect as I'd like haha, I'm content with the final product.
Personal Thoughts:
Rapunzel is my new favorite Disney princess. I totally admire her kindness, spunk and inner strength. Ugugugu, she is the cutest thing ever. I really love Rapunzel so much. I knew I wanted to cosplay her as soon as I saw the movie and I'm so glad she had this braided version because I'm not sure I could have figured out how to pull-off her long hair. I love this movie more than words can say and I hope I did her relative justice in my attempt. C:

Styling Notes
This wig was pretty tough for me since honestly wig styling is not my forte. I bought a long wig that was really beautiful and 4 other wefts for length and volume. The middle core of the braid is a large weft which I then braided the wig and two other golden wefts around it. I finally added one more weft at the bottom for length on the tail. The flowers were then stuck into the wig but I couldn't secure them as properly as I would've liked so I did end up losing quite a few of them by the end of the day lol. Next time I wear this I'll have to fix a few of those errors.
