About this Costume
Construction Details:
Red sweatshirt made from cotton knit, with a black vinyl bias-tape-thing on the fold down collar (which I sewed properly in that it's machine stitched one side, and then handtacked the other side). Black cuffs are of some black cotton knit that I had laying around, which I also used for Silver's outfit, and then hand stitched onto the rest of the sweatshirt. Undershirt is a black t-shirt with a white hood handsewn on (I was too lazy to walk to my machine, so I just watched Sherlock and handsewed it for fun), with matching white piece of fabric sewn onto the bottom. Black hat was bought, and I drafted up my own ghetto pattern for the yellow parts of the hat which I totally ghetto hand-sewed on. The black line that goes straight across the bottom of Gold's costume, I made into the top of a set of pockets. GunBlazeEX was in charge of our Pokeballs, and our friends C-Dawg (Cyndaquil), T-Pain (Totodile), and Shaniqua (Chikorita).
Personal Thoughts:
Two weeks before the convention, GunBlazeEX and I decided to vomit up some Pokemon costumes for Katsucon. I was in charge of costumes, he was in charge of accessories (Pokemon and Pokeball). I wanted our costumes to be able to be worn normally, so they're pretty much sweatshirts, with working pockets and everything. I tried to just use left over fabrics, but I was a few inches too short with the red knit that I had, so I had to buy new fabric. My consoling factor is that I'm going to be wearing this until the end of time. I thought about wearing my D-Arc as a Pokegear, but it didn't have a clip to hook it onto my cuff :(.
