Construction Details:

I made the Shep costume and the Stella dress in this group. The Shep bodysuit was by far the most challenging thing I've ever produced. It's made out of cotton sateen with a slight one-way stretch, so had to be patterned with the stretch taken into consideration as to where the fabric would need to give for movement. Since it was skin-tight, I had to add a few seams and we added zippers down the sides, since the movie suit has only one zipper in the chest and it was insufficient to be able to put a suit on with little to no stretch. The arrows are inset seams patterned and sewn in -- in fact, every color change in the costume is patterned and sewn, not appliquéd. It is all one single piece, save for the boots and the gloves. I also made a foam undersuit so to add a bit of "muscley" definition. The dress had to be made twice because of the material not behaving like I wanted it to. I patterned the dress as well, and it was just as difficult to make, in its own way. It is also all one piece. The belt and the hairpiece are made of brass that we added a black patina to to get the darker triangle. I'm really proud of this group. Everyone was amazing, and I'm very proud of the work I did and the standards to which I held myself on these costumes.

Personal Thoughts:

Interstella 5555 is awesome. If you haven't seen it, you should. Also, I'm never making a bodysuit again.

How was the wig colored?

Brown sharpie dye in a spray bottle.

Styling Notes

We straightened the Ferrari with a flat iron and then cut and spray dyed it with a brown sharpie mix. We then curled it under to texture it a bit.
