This is a Florentine gown based off of two different gowns worn by Elanor Di Toledo, and was made for our 12th Night celebration. The main fabric of the dress is brocade, trimmed with black velvet ribbon, antique gold ribbon, and pearls that were hand sewn on. The sleeves, shoulder tabs, and shoulder puffing (and all of the black beads) were made / placed by my friend Jess. The shift, which can't be seen, is muslin, and was too large when I first finished it. To remedy the problem I added a series of pin-tucks to the front and back. The partlet was some sort of embroidered bridal sheer. The under layers include two petticoats to help the dress have the right shape. The whole thing took a solid week and a half to finish. My friend and I had to re-draft the bodice several times to get the seams in the right place, based on the illustration in our reference book, and had to go through several mock-ups to get the fit correct. We built a corset into the bodice for full support. A neck ruff of white lace will be added in the near future.
