About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Jacket: Handpainted with Lumiere fabric paint. The Chousokabe clan symbol was a stamp I made by cutting out craft foam pieces and glueing them to a cardboard backing. The background pattern started out as a foam stamp that I made, but it didn't work quite right so I ended up freehanding most of the pattern. Gauntlets: craft foam covered in material. Greaves: Front is a craft foam base covered in Rigid Wrap, glass bead detailing. Backs are pleather with button details. "Turtle shells" pattern done with puff paint on foam or Rigid Wrap.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I love the look of this costume. However, that jacket was one of the most time-consuming things I've ever made. I had to cut out each piece and hand paint it before sewing them all together and lining them. I also had a hard time finding material with the right print for the pants. This is the first time I've used just pleather as the greave back piece, instead of Rigid Wrap. It's so much easier to move in. I love the way the puff painted "turtle shells" turned out.
