About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
After Ordon Link, I said I wouldn't subject myself to intense embroidery again. Clearly, I lied.
The costume is made from silk dupioni (same fabric used by the Disney Parks for her costume), with rayon-knit for the sleeves. I tried to embroider on those, but the fabric is far too delicate for that.
I modified a bodice pattern I had for the corset and the underlying bodice so they could have sleeves.
All the designs on the skirt, both on the border and in the center panel, are hand-embroidered. The bordering designs are actually embroidered in the movie- hard to see but in close-up shots, you can tell. I had to improvise the bordering ones, as they were unclear in the concept art. The center panel, I based off the textile from the official Rapunzel doll. Yay, high-quality product photos. - Personal Thoughts:
- While not one of Disney's best animated films, I *did* appreciate what they were trying to do with Tangled, from an animation standpoint and the references to past films was a nice touch for their 50th feature. Rapunzel and Gothel were such a fantastic hero/villain duo; I wouldn't have cared for the movie at all if it wasn't for them.
Rapunzel, ahhh, a princess I can finally relate to. As much as I love Belle, and always will, I'm not much like her; more of somebody I wanna be. Rap', on the other hand, totally.

I love all the concept dresses Claire Keane came up with for Rap and this one I especially liked because of the color scheme. Less pinkie-purples and a little more cornflower blue/periwinkle.
Btw, is it too late to trade in Flynn for the prince from the Faerie Tale Theatre rendition of the story? I'd like Kevin Flynn instead, plz.
