The boyfran had been wanting to do a Pyramid Head cosplay for a while, and asked if I would make a Bubblehead Nurse to go along with it. Considering that the Silent Hill movie was one of the first movies we had watched together (and I've been finding a new delight in cosplaying creepy/evil characters), I jumped at the chance to do it. :D
The dress itself was really easy to make -- Baru had bought a pattern for something similar at one point, so I altered that pattern a bit and whipped up a nice little white cotton dress....and then destroyed it. Seriously. Most fun thing to do ever. I dipped it in a black tea and RIT dye mix, rubbed it with all sorts of coffee grounds and dirt and basically beat the crap out of it. I burned the edges instead of hemming, and then went over places with rubber latex to give it texture/a really creepy feel. Then I added acrylic paint and ta-da! Nurse dress! I did the same thing to the hat after I made it, as well as the shoes (which I had lying around from an old Halloween costume).
The mask was the last part and was a bit intimidating as I'd never done anything like it before. Salty gave me some really helpful pointers for starting it (plastic face mask with a baseball cap taped to it), and I went from there. It's several layers of plaster of paris and then covered in rubber latex and acrylic paint.
No, I cannot see or breathe very easily in this costume. Derp derp. It's super fun to stumble-walk and be generally creepy with my Pyramid Head though.
