About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I think this thing ate 30+ yards of fabric between the hoop skirt, petticoat, underskirt and overskirt D:.
Top was based off a Renaissance-era pattern; the rest of the costume was patterned by myself. It's made out of a navy blue/black dual-toned taffeta and voile was used for the white ruffles. The insignia on the sash was machine embroidered and the hat was made from scratch. The wig was originally pure white and dyed using Dye-na-Flow. - Personal Thoughts:
- I thought this costume would be easy and wouldn't take me more than a weekend. I can't believe how wrong I was. This was a monster of a project and I worked solidly on this for three weeks, which is an eternity in sewing time for me. There are a few little details that need to be fixed before I take this to ALA, but overall I am very happy with the result!
