Construction Details:

My daughter, three years old, wanted to dress as Miku ("The girl with blue hair!") this year for Halloween. We went fabric shopping together and she helped me match the colors with some fabrics I felt would be easy to transform into the cosplay.

I did not make the shoes, stockings, or wig (all were previously owned), but every other piece was made by hand, without the use of patterns.

The small accent pieces (black on her tie, yellow on her shirt, all colors on her headphones) are made of foam and sewn in place. The blue of her shoes is simply colored masking tape. The headphones are made of painted foam pieces held in place with thread and a ribbon for the headpiece.

Since just before the popularity of Vocaloids, I've wanted to make a Miku cosplay for myself. I never thought of asking my daughter. I am thrilled that she spoke up and very happy at the outcome!
