About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The dress is a wrap-around like old style nurse uniforms made from cotton. It snaps together at the shoulder, collar and waist. The dress was made large so I could take it in at the white darts so it poofs out. The necklace is a gem and sculpy. The wings are cotton, stiff interfacing and poly-fill. The underskirt is separate and is also cotton. The medic box is interfacing covered with cotton. It velcros closed. The base of the hat is a sailor hat, stiffened with interfacing and covered with cotton. The ears are flannel with wire and interfacing. The tail is also made out of flannel and is sewing to the bow which snaps on and off the dress. Very convenient for traveling because that bow is HUGE! The designs on the socks are felt and were glued onto the socks while I was wearing them. lol The shoes were covered with cotton and interfacing. The smiley face is just sharpie. The wand base is wood while the heart and wings are foamboard covered in paperclay. The ball at the top is styrofoam.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I effing LOVE Komugi. If I was to ever say I have a connection with an anime character it would be with her. We have very similar personalities and body types and enjoy most of the same things. My mom made this outfit for me back in 05 and it wasn't so good. lol So I was determined to redo it and make it a million times better. I think I achieved that and I'm really proud of it.
