About this Costume
Construction Details:
Oni-con 2010 I love Junko Mizuno's artworks and this image in particular was my favorite. I am not sure that name of the character or if she even has one. My favorite aspect of the costume is the hair and the little creatures that inhabit it. I slightly changed things from the original but am still happy with the way things came out.I didn't have a long wig so I used my short purple wig and dyed some extensions/braids with alcohol/acrylic mixture to match the original wig as closely as possible. I hand sculpted all the little creatures and attached them to the hair. I drafted the bathing suit pattern myself and individually attached the black trim with half circles. A sheer fabric was attached the back. The shoes were red vinyl and painted as close as possible to the rest of the outfit. The staff is made rather quick unfortunately so I hope to redo it better in the future. It is made of paper clay, over a wooden dowel, then painted with acrylic paints.
