About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The shirt has three ruffle layers along the front where the buttons/facings are, plus a double-layered ruffle collar. I ran out of ruffle/eyelet trim for the upper part of the collar, so I just used some eyelet fabric that I had leftover from something else, zigzag'ed the edges, and made do.
The sleeves of the blouse are see-through! I didn't notice until I was just about to sew the sleeves on, but they are sheer according to the illustration, so I re-cut the sleeves out of some white chiffon which I VERY FORTUNATELY had left over from another project ... and it was JUST enough. Each cuff has 6 buttons, of which 2 are functional.
The vest clips in the front with frog closures, and the little skirty/bustly thing is attached to the vest. All of the stripes were glued in place, then topstitched. I strung some beads along the left side for a little added interest, underneath DAT FLOWER.
The 'Shota Pants' as I've dubbed them, were made by modifying a pattern for bloomers, and I added a ruffle of the black crinoline along the edges.
The lillies on the headpiece were spraypainted black since they all started out white and light pink, and I strung them together with some thin silver wire. I can simply bobby pin the wreath into my wig. :D - Personal Thoughts:
- After wearing my last Ciel costume, and realizing how much of a pain in the butt it was to move around in, I really wanted to make a lighter, easier-to-wear variation of Ciel's. I loved the black & white dynamic of this particular outfit, but I keep forgetting to bring a knight chess piece along for pictures!
