I've always been interested in cosplaying as Eric, I love Castlevania's design, and Eric was my favorite character in Judgment. I was hesitant about doing this costume, I've never made a prop before, let alone one this size. The complicated design of the spear is insane and defiles the law of gravity. OTL I mentally tried out using different materials to make the spear, clay was my first choice, but it would be too heavy. So In the end I went with cardboard. The main 8 shape of the spear is made with layers of cardboard I stole from no-fills LOL. The curls (?) on the side and the connector parts is made with foam I stole from my school XD Everything is than cover with papermache. Craft foam are used to make the shape look more 3D. Clay is used to make the shape better. Then it is spray painted. For the rod, I first sprayed a layer of red, taped around the rod, and sprayed another layer of Red-brown. Then I painted the rest of the colours on, shade in some darker colour, drew the design, and coated it with a layer of glue. I was going to use gloss spray but I ran out of time to buy it. The spikes are thick craft foam cut into shape, painted, then glued on separately. An insane amount of hot glue were used to make this. The angle wing is just your typical angle wing made with feather and wire. (I wanted to keep it light weighted) The demon wing is made with wire, craft foam, felt and wood stick. It is surprisingly flexible and sturdy. The entire spear fell with this wing landing first at the con (OTL), it bend and cushioned the spear's fall, and it was just fine after that! YAY physics! The rod is actually two pieces, I can adjust it to as high as 220 cm tall, and I can take them apart for easy travel. The costume is also made by myself, the crosses are ironed on.
