About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Because I can't ever take the simple inexpensive reasonable route when it comes to costumes, I used silks for this ridiculous ensemble. 2 yards of iridescent blue shot jade silk chiffon, 3 yards of Cleopatra crepe -- exclusively available at Aurora Silks and so gorgeous -- and a yard of wine coloured sari silk. Gold fresh water baroque pearls were sewn onto the 'sleeves' of the peplos. It's basically just layered and tied at the waist with a sash. The axe was a plastic Halloween Party City purchase because clearly this costume was supposed to be taken so seriously. The other alternative was to use $5 a yard fabric and splatter fake blood all over it.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Costume was made for kurzeshaar's Ancient World themed birthday party -- it was basically a glorified Toga Party. What better place to cosplay my namesake?
