About this Costume
Construction Details:
Katara was made to be part of a set of Avatar costumes that our group had redesigned to be more elaborat. Galleries of the rest of the group (Azula, Yue, Toph, June, Ty Lee, and Iroh) may be found here (http://pics.livejournal.com/gothic_hamlet/gallery/00019cap), but Katara's outfit was made after the fact, as a last minute addition for a following convention. Double sided interfacing was the biggest piece to this outfit, used to create the watertribe swirling pattern down the side. The pattern was cut out of both the interfacing and a darker fabric, and ironed onto the main dress to avoid any sewing.
