About this Costume
Construction Details:
Probably the hardest thing I've ever made. Fai is one of my all-time favorite characters and I wanted to make sure that it was as good as it could be.

The coat is made of about 9-10 yards of fabric, and it's fully lined in blue cotton. I accidentally bought the wrong pattern, so I wound up basically making my own because it had to be altered so much.

I only used 2-3 yards of fur for the trim, and none of it is sewn on! It's attached with snaps in the front and collar, and velcro on the bottom. This is so I can clean it separately, because the fur likes to pick up dirt and other things off the ground.

The black trim on the coat is bias tape, and the designs on the sleeve are the same cotton as the lining and trim on the shirt. They're attached with Heat-n'-Bond, which is my new favorite thing ever. It makes appliques so easy!

The undershirt is white stretch cotton, and besides the buckles, it's actually pretty comfy. The trim was made for me by my grandma out of the leftover blue cotton. (She was how much money I was spending one this and wanted me to save some lol) The shirt buttons down the front, and then a separate panel covers it. Took me like a week to figure it out!

The inside of my tails are blue, not white, because the blue cotton is so much sturdier than the stretch white. Plus, they're blue like that in some of the official artworks and in a lot of the artbook designs, and I think they look cooler that way.

The buckles are white pleather spray painted gold, and I've had to remake them twice.

Styling Notes
Pretty much no styling required, and the wig is basically awesome! It just requires a little brushing every now and then. 613 is an odd shade with my skin tone, so I would recommend it in a slightly darker blond for anyone who isn't super pale!
