So this costume was made with so much love and second guessing. Not it a bad way ... but in the ... I rarely ever design my own costume that I had to give myself a long time to make this with all the decisions that were ahead of me. Dress? Separates? Coat? Length of wig? How do I make the face come across right? Really, it was such a fun process.
The costume is shirt, pants, and coat. The fitted pants and shirt are to emulate the stream lined built of EVE. The sleeveless, collarless coat with black trim is to reflect the separation of the head and arms. The long coat is to give her some movement. The shirt and pants are all double thick spandex/lycra.
The coat has a green patch of the plant logo. Its just an iron plant (wonder under) on green with a white sheer over to diffuse the green and emulate the glow of the light it emits. The shirt has the most faintest plant logo in gray under the top layer of the shirt. When EVE opens up to secure the plant her tummy has the logo inside. Mine is off center and tilted because I didn't want to look like I was preggers with a plant.
For the eyes I always had the idea to wear a visor. So this is made from a headband with painted blue plastic glued between the gap. While I don't have the best vision through the visor it was possible to walk around in the daylight and not kill myself or others. Wearing it at night is impossible.
The boots were a last minute panic. The original white boots I've had for years were determined to be a million times to painful to wear for the duration of the Disney Halloween event. So I added stirrups to the pants to wear over black boots that don't kill my feet. (Or so I thought) Actually, I lasted pretty long with these, but I have blisters now. I'll have to rethink footwear when I put this on again.
Overall, I had the best of times in this costume with Matt^2. He was the bestest Wall-E and the bestest partner in crime!!! He really worked the yellow jumpsuit! Can't want to wear this again!!!
