About this Costume

This was taken at AWA 2010.
This dress has been years in the making! Summoner Yuna was my first cosplay and right after I had to start oh her dress. I started it when I was 14 years old but didn't quite have the skills to finish it so it was put away in a box and hidden away. I decided I wanted to finish it earlier this year so I got it out of storage and had to remember what the heck was going on! I did a right miserable job and had no idea what was going on but I managed to re-cut it constructively and get it assembled.
I didn't want to do a backless dress because of my scoliosis so I kept the back in it. Sometimes comfort is more important than accuracy!
This costume did give me my first trip to first aid actually around when this photo was taken. I managed to slice my right knee on a wire that got lose in my bouquet. It was a really wide cut, but thankfully not very deep. Bleeding really badly is stressful enough, but in a white wedding gown-- I was panicking!
All textiles and props (except the crown) were made by me.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I know it certainly isn't perfect, and I made some artistic differences to better fit my body and make me more comfortable, but I am really proud to have this costume finished. I started it when I was 15 and finally finished it when I was 23.
