About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I made all of the clothes for this from scratch. The shirt is Kona cotton and the pants are a stretchy suiting from JoAnn’s. The bandana and sash are wool; the sash actually closes with a couple of hidden buttons so I could get it to go around my waist without any obvious knots. The vest is a textured velveteen and fully lined with matching fabric covered buttons.
And since much of the game is Guybrush trying to fix things after accidentally proposing to Elaine with a cursed ring that turns her into a gold statue, I had to have the huge diamond ring! XD; I put it together with some wire, a filigree ring setting that I modified, and a big plastic gem from my family’s plastic store.
- Personal Thoughts:
- The Monkey Island games are among my favorites and last year's Tales of Monkey Island reminded me how much I love the series. ^_^ I'd originally planned to cosplay Morgan LeFlay from Tales for NYCC/NYAF but had to postpone it due to real life craziness. Since neoangelwink and I had planned to do Monkey Island cosplay together, we revised our plans and did Curse of Monkey Island versions of Guybrush and Elaine since the costumes are much simpler. Our photoshoot at the con was very silly and I ruined some photos since I kept cracking up. ^_^;;

- Styling Notes
- The only thing I did to the wig was cut bangs into it.
