About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Had the fabric printed (picked the wrong material though) and ironed on all the keys/computer/mouse. White on the jacket is twill, blue is cotton, green is some spandexy stuff turned inside out, so it wasn't as sparkly. I had plans to make it look like a circuit board, but they failed and I figured no one would care anyway. This was my first time doing hand embroidery. I love the look but it was painful. My fingers hurt for days. But it really does help the whole jacket look more accurate.
- Personal Thoughts:
- It was a just for me costume. But I opted not to go with sparkly pants because that was just dumb of Mattel. I would get laughed at at work if I showed up with glittery stretch knit pants. And I'm not about to buy a pink laptop just for a costume. SO yep, just for me. I wanted to make the shirt mostly and I enjoyed making the jacket. Plus comp sci barbie = awesome (although Mattel's execution is debatable, that laptop should be running linux). And I swear to God I ironed it. Don't know what's up with that fabric. Oh, because it's not quite so clear, yes, the shirt is binary for Barbie. Each line is a different letter. I'm a dork and figured it out and that's mainly why I made the whole costume.
