About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I've wanted to Cosplay a Disney Princess since I was a little kid because, like a lot of kids, I grew up adoring all the Disney movies, especially the movies of the 90s like The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast. My favourite Disney Princess is Ariel, but I figured with my pale skin and dark eyes that I could probably be a decent Snow White so I've been dreaming of Cosplaying her for several years. Snow White is a rather adorable princess. I purchased this costume from Limebarb as this was her personal costume. I noticed that she was selling it in 2009 and I admired it for a long time before my friend Pan helped convince me that it would be a good idea to buy her costume since Limebarb and I are similar in size. Buying her costume saved me a lot of time and money since fabric for this costume alone would probably have been well over $100 and it would have taken a very long time to make and probably would never have been anywhere near as nice as Limebarb's Snow White costume. XD The only part of the costume that I did make myself was the ribbon, which I quickly whipped up from two types of ribbon. I purchased the Marilyn 250 wig from Cosworx after fretting about finding a wig for a few months thanks to the wonderful suggestion of Oosaji, which I saw on her Cosplay.com page. Pan helped me style it using hot water.
- Personal Thoughts:
- When I wore this costume to the Cosplay Picnic on Centre Island, Amber and I (Amber surprised me by making a gorgeous Ariel costume) made the day of so many little children! We stopped and posed with lots of children and even adults throughout the day. Apparently the island was abuzz with talk of the princesses walking around the island. It was really a very touching day and brought me out of my shell a bit since I'm very shy (especially around kids). Thanks to Limebarb for selling her costume and helping me live a little dream of Cosplaying a Disney Princess. I'm very much looking forward to wearing this costume several more times to different conventions and events! :3
