Construction Details:

The sword's blade is made from transparent acrylic (Acrylite), the hilt/handle is wood, and the ornamentation is a mix of Wonderflex and Sculptey. Special thanks to my dad, who constructed the blade. ♥

The orange/yellow fabric was custom dyed in a joint effort between myself and my mother.

Personal Thoughts:

Sailor Venus is my favorite Sailor Senshi, and considering Sailor Moon was the ultimate obsession of my childhood, it was only inevitable that I cosplay her. When Sakura-Con '09 rolled around, I decided it was finally the year to go for it. I had decided years before that I would make the sword she uses to kill Queen Beryl in the manga--not only to make my costume stand out, but because it would just be freaking awesome. ;D

I'm really happy with this costume. It was the last costume I worked on for SC '09, which means it ended up being rushed; it turned out great considering, but there's a lot I'd like to fix up and I never got to make the chest-armor. This is definitely on my revamp list. However, I LOVE the fabric; I searched all over before finding the perfect stuff, and then I dyed it myself (with the help of my mother, another huge thank you!) to hit just the right shade of orange-yellow.
