Construction Details:

This costume was a blast! I love Aya. She's such a silly character and so much to play as (and against) and her outfit is so simple yet it sets her apart. I used a rayon/spandex blend for the entire costume, I took a chance and I love the fabric deeply. Everything of the costume in this material. It took about 1m black and 2.5 meters white (due to all the ruffles - speaking of which, ruffles take a long long time.) The ties and belt where made of left over fabric, tailored and all that junk to fit me wierd measurments and create a more Aya like figure... if you can call it that? The hat is cardboard covered in fabric, the ties are red yarn braided together with white pom-poms glued over them. Aaaand the tengu shoes! My favourite part of this costume! They where made from 5$ second hand shoes and a block of cedar I had in the backyard. It took a little critical thinking, some experimenting and a lot of risk but I think it turned out all right. They're decently accurate AND I can move around in them too! Wings are around 150ish feathers that I had fun arranging on a coathanger frame covered in pantyhose. They're attached to elastics so I wear them like a backpack through a cute little whole put between my shoulderblades on the blouse C:
