About this Costume

It is no secrete that Battle Angel Alita/GUNNM is one of my favorite mangas of all time. The cyber punk anarchist style that Yukito Kishiro utilized and the amazing story of Alita is a masterpiece is my eyes. I have done two or three or so other versions of Alita and this one is probably my favorite. This costume had its fair share of difficulties but in the end, it was incredible to wear and to be recognized with high high praise. I can honestly say that motorball Alita was the most challenging cosplay I have made. But like most cosplayers, i do it for the pure simple nerdy love. I was very humbled to compete in the AX and Comic Con Masquerades in 2010 with all the truly talented people around me. This costume is really a high point in my own costume work because I really put the time and the money in developing and creating this costume. I wont be able to do any big cosplays like this for a few years so it is my last hoorah for a while. I used a different technique and materials for each piece of the costume. I broke it down into over 60 different parts and did my best to do justice to the original. In some ways I was reminded that I am not, in fact, a cyborg so somethings are not possible. For this and other reasons, i regret that there are inaccuracies. I wore this cosplay to AX 2010 and Comic Con 2010. I was awarded: Anime Pavilion award: 1st Place, Best of show Diamond Select: Femme Fatale Award Best Intermediate Construction To which I am very very grateful in receiving. Points of interest: -Working folding Damascus blade -On real roller skates -Metal face and wire detail Note: My father and I hand make all the props in my costumes. I want to say that without his help, I would surely not have the amount of quality and fond memories without him. -Real rollerskates -Wire detailing -Cyber hands/fingers This was the first year I have ever really been in a serious Masquerade but it was awesome.
