It was so awesome to finally wear these costumes out at AN. Looking back on it, I think we started on everything mid November or so, and we started wig searching in September! So these have been a long time coming, and a lot of hard work was poured into these. =)
These costumes were done fairly collaboratively, with us getting together many many weekends starting in the fall until the weekend before AN!
The costumes were all made from the same white cotton as a base, and different colours of chiffon overlay for each of us. We decided that since the colour's are rather muted in the art, the chiffon overlaying the white cotton would be a good idea =) Everything is hand draped on mine (for the top, the bottom has two tiers of circle skirts), Gillyzor's (for her top, and the bottom is a large skirt) and Chibi Lenne's.
The Sashes are all varying colours of bridal satin, though we used the non-shiny side for the outside since, well, we really didn't love the shine for the sashes. XD
Gillykins did all of the resin casting for the variety of large jewels, as well as all of the metal work and armor bits which is mostly craft foam and memory wire - that stuff is awesome btw. She also styled all the wigs, mostly mine (cutting and adding in the wefts for the rat-tail) and adding some more volume to her bangs on the umi wig.
I made all of the tassels and flower wreaths
Chibi-Lenne did most of the serging / sewing bits and we all worked on draping the fabric.
These were entered into the masq at AN. We didn't go in with any real expectations. It was my first time in AN's masquerade. There were so many gorgeous jaw dropping entries this year. So to say it was a shocker that we got Best in Show is an extreme understatement. >.>
