Wow this costume. It's been a while since I made a big costume with a million details so this was really fun. The wig was originally from Arda Wigs and it was a bubblegum pink color so I sat patiently with like 20 tangerine Sharpies and hand-dyed it to be that pretty orange color. The necklaces are aquarium tubing with wire inside painted to be the right pattern except one is made of wire with beads. I only had white pony beads (I know lolinaccurate cry me a river I think they are cute), so I strung a few onto my skinny paintbrushes and hand-painted them to be the colors they needed to be. Any non-white pony bead on this costume is hand painted @.@. The top is made out of linen which is what I though the high-res scans looked like. I love it. It secures on the top by tying it and in the back by three hook and eyes. The skirt is yellow cotton that I gradient dyed (never done that before) orange and I really like it. The fur is from syfabrics.com and was balls expensive but worth it since I love that too (I'll say that a lot, this costume is my super love). The belt is craft foam painstakingly glued together which I got the idea for from SushiMonster who is a goddess among cosplayers for her breakdown of how she made stuff most helpful of which was the stupid butt cape. I painted the metal "plates" silver (they are craft foam too) then though 'wow that's silver' and so I kind of smooshed around some black paint to whether it and thought 'well damn, that's too dark' so I painted the silver over again and was totally losing my shit because I thought it looked so perfect. Small victories. The pouch is leather. Like from a cow. Like when I got it it was in the shape of a cow. It feels SO neat. Not to mention LOOKS so neat. That central beading monstrosity was an amazing feat in and of itself that I can't begin to describe how I made but since SushiMonster did us all a solid I will do the same and type up a huge how I made Vanille thing as well. The only thing I didn't finish were the bangles so disregard. The boots were these $3 Urban Renewal black boots that StardustShadow helped me magically paint them yellow and I LOVE them. As much as I think the super poofy long fur looks on the boots I went with the short because it's hurfaccurate. I might change that because I really do like the longer whiteish fur. The backpiece has a really specific design so I tried to replicate that with strings of model magic. I really like it. Over 1200 pony beads were used and 2000 of the tiiiiny black spacer beads that I had to force onto the flexlace until my fingers were raw. Yeah, you bet I'm proud.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I know I'm not a tiny skinny bitch, but I love this thing. Say what you will, it's been a long time since I've been this proud of a costume.
