About this Prop
- Construction Details:
-
When I decided I was going to cosplay Scout, I knew I wanted to build his Scattergun. Building this thing turned out to be the most challenging part of this cosplay, especially since I had never built a prop in my life. I took an in-game model, scaled it, and then made a blueprint on my computer. I had an abundance of foam (y'know, the pink stuff?) left over from a Sculpture class project, so I used that for the large pieces like the grip and such. The foam was carved with a bandsaw, sealed, Bondo-ed, primed, & then painted. The barrels are 2" wide PVC pipe, with the board on top being basswood. The lever is foam that was covered in paperclay, and the tiny details & trigger are paperclay as well. Everything was assembled with Gorilla Glue Superglue (which works wonderfully, fyi).
- Personal Thoughts:
- This thing is massive. Even to [approximate] scale (the final product is a bit bigger then I thought...), it barely fits in my tiny babyman hands. Nevertheless, I love it. The Scattergun was my first big prop build, and despite some flaws, I'm really proud of the results.
