About this Costume
Construction Details:
Wow. I've spent over 100hrs on this big, bad peacock, and there are still a few things that need finishing. Quick construciton details: The feathers are four different brocade/formal fabrics to really push the seemingly flamboyant nature of the character. Then over 40 yards of trim has been used to accent/outline the designs. (The same fabric choices and trim accents were used on the tail as well.) The feathers are held up and in place by 6gage wire. I used a nice swimwear/dancewear material for the green bodysuit since it gives a wonderful stretch and form fits nicely. Dancewear also has a slight sheen to compliment my other fabric choices. About $50 worth of feathers was purchased for this project. And the flesh suit was sewn and airbrushed by me. It was my first time using the Copic airbrush system (and airbrushing in general). The wig was purchased from CosplayWig. I went with a model that was more lilac and sky blue instead of a grey. I just wanted something more lively and colorful than just grey. This decision was also to compliment the wide range of colors on the costume. (I REALLY had fun with color on this cosplay since working with overall black/white motifs on my other cosplays - such as Bleach - has really made me long to sew something that isn't black fabric. Haha.) The whole costume has sure been an adventure so far. And any questions you might have about construction, feel free to PM me here or on Cosplay.com - where my username is the same. Thanks for reading.
