Construction Details:

As soon as I saw Fang from pictures, I knew I had to make her costume. After playing the game, she became my favorite Final Fantasy character. And just in time for Fanime.

This costume took about 40 hours or so. I made the mistake of thinking it would be easy to make. The trim was the hardest part (and took the longest out of anything on this costume) and is painted on from an acetate stencil. I originally made the stencil and then made stamps from it, but the stamps came out too thick. So I ended up using the stencil on 12 yards of fabric, where I'd constantly have to wash it off from the thick fabric paint, have pieces break off the acetate and reglue them (only to have them fall off again when I'd wash it every 10 paintings). I'm really proud how well it turned out.

I made the boots (except the bottoms, which were an old gross pair of shoes from the 70's). I tried saving money by not using a zipper... it worked, but they weren't the most comfortable or form fitting.

I made everything on the costume. The hardest part was styling the wig (which I have NO experience with, obviously) and making the sari fit perfectly. I plan on making the weapon for Fanime next year, since I didn't have the time or patience for it this year.
