Construction Details:

The under dress was made out of an interlock knit, while the robe is made from gauberdine and then lined with a broad cloth. The designs on both the robe and the dress are hand painted. I used a mix of Tulip and Jacquard's fabric paint. The dress took only on to two layers of fabric paint while the robe, being much thicker, required up to about three layers for the first solid color. ((additional layers where added for the black lines and white lighting I applied to the shapes)) The wig was completely styled by me, 6 packets of loose extensions went into the wig ((thanks to trial and error)). It was my first time ever stubbing a wig, so it was even bigger test of my wig newbness since I had to do it twice for this costume.

Personal Thoughts:

This costume was a big deal for me for two reasons. For one thing, Gankutsuou is my favorite anime. The second reason was it was also being used as a portfolio piece. I'm an art student so this was a great costume to apply to my hobby and to my education.
