About this Costume
Construction Details:
Almost everything was already in my wardrobe except for the skirt, which I bought, shortened and dyed. I also made her pendant with the leftovers of my polystyrene resin casting pack, bought a pair of glasses and subjected a really cheap wig to all kinds of tortures to get something that at least could look decent in photos XD
Personal Thoughts:
Some friends of mine planned to do a K-ON! group were half of the members were crossplayed boys. Obviously, I couldn't resist XD I SO wanted to go as Sawako-sensei because I loved her: a mature megane teacher with a cosplaying fetish and a gentle nature hiding a wild metal-loving behaviour, I felt so drawn to her for our similarities and it's one of the types of characters I really like ^^ But there was too little time to buy a decent wig or make a "serious" costume (I'd have rather done her trademark yellow dress) and I had a null income of money : So I had to work with what I already had: scraps of fabric, old clothes and a wig I already owned or something really cheap. I started researching all her clothing in every episode to see which one was the easiest to do... and ta-da, I found this outfit from episode 5. It wasn't flashy but it was cute enough. A few days later, we realized that the rest of the group wouldn't have their cosplays or wigs on time, so we decided to cancel it. Since a lone Sawako was too obscure for that convention (or for most of them in Spain ^^u), I stored everything and forgot about it... until now. I don't like having unfinished cosplays, so I finished it and my sister offered herself as a cameko, so I couldn't resist ^^

Overall, a really simple cosplay, but I enjoyed that "After School Tea Time" and all the little and easy things I had to do, it was really relaxing after cosplays that were too complicated for me :3

Styling Notes
When I started working on Sawako-sensei for the convention I intended to go with this cosplay, I didn't have enough time nor money to buy a decent wig. At first I thought about using my Mikuru wig, but even if it was a costume just to have fun, I couldn't overlook that it's too red for Sawako >_< So one day I found this wig and I decided to buy it on a whim: it was cheap (5€ O_o) and had that "party" shine, but the color was more or less correct (even if it also had a bit of red in it) and it wasn't as thin as these wigs tend to be. I had nothing better, so I started working on it: I straightened it with hot water, irons and my hairdryer (cheap wigs are incredibly resistant to heat, I swear). I started dying the lower layers applying a brown permanent marker directly, but it was too time consuming, so I ended up spraying it even though the dye was barely appreciable. But I succeded in killing the shine a little bit and giving it a more brownish tone. But I wanted more, so I applied a mixture of brown acrylic paint with alcohol with a brush in the outer layers and then coated it with a medium strength hairspray and let it dry for a whole weekend. I then brushed the rock-like wig thoroughly to eliminate the "crispiness" and cut it and styled it as I liked it. I had to thin the volume in the bangs since they were too thick to make Sawako's pointy ones.
