About this Costume
Construction Details:
I had been wanting to make this costume for quite a while and I'm so glad I finally got around to it! I am so incredibly pleased with the final results :) The entire costume was created in about three or four days of nearly nonstop work. The top was made with an old bra of mine. I cut the straps and back part off and covered the cups in white fabric and then attached the black fabric, more white fabric, ribbon, and lace to that, then I added the straps. The ruffles on top were made from the same white fabric. The skirt was three layers: One layer of tulle underneath, one layer of black fabric, and then the top layer of brown translucent fabric. The belt was made from the same pleathery fabric that I made the top out of. I plan on studding it soon. The shoes were on clearance at Sears! I'm so happy to have found them for only 20 dollars. They are absolutely perfect and I love them :D The tights were bought and altered. The grey ones are actually tights, but I cut one leg off and wore it at my knee. The fish nets are thigh-highs. I wore one at my knee and tied the ribbon around it. The jewelery was found and bought (and some was altered), except for the collar which I made myself. The arm warmers were very simply made with left over fabric. I already owned the guitar. I know it's not a Les Paul, but it's what I had to work with. This is the first time I've ever cosplayed as Haruhi with a wig! My real hair just grew too long and I didn't feel like cutting it, so I opted for a wig for this costume. It was a mid-length brown wig I bought off of ebay. I cut off a bit of the length and ponytailed it and attached it to the headband for her flippy hair thingy. The rest of it was relatively easy to style. Just a bit of trimming and some straightening and curling the ends under. I'm pretty happy with how the wig looks, but I wish I would have kept it a little longer. I will have better photos up sometime soon! Sorry for the long description!
