About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
This was my first costume ever...and I think it turned out really good! The color is a bit too dark...but I couldn't find the right color. Well, it's too dark for Rinoa's duster shown in the cutscenes...but if you look at her game sprite, mine is an almost identical color match! So let's just say that's the version that I am :)
It took a lot of work over about 3 days, from about noon until after dark. Being my first costume, it took a lot more time that it probably should have. My roommate helped me out a little bit because I had absolutely 0 experience, but she made me measure and cut it all myself! We had absolutely no pattern to go by, so it was pretty interesting. However, I think it turned out pretty awesome.
The duster is a rib-knit I found at Jo-Ann's... the ribs are too small but it serves it's purpose. The skirt turned out way better than I ever could have hoped. Making it without a pattern was actually hard for a first time sewer like me >_>. If you saw the back of the skirt...it looks a little weird haha. It gets shorter in the back. I decided to put a zipper in the back instead of have the buttons be functional. It looks way better if you ask me. The shirt was bought at Old Navy, and the short's at a random Sports clothing store that I can't remember...we cut the shorts and inserted the zippers. (My roommate had to help me with that because it was such a small seam haha)
I also painted the wings on the back. I found a pattern for them on google and blew the image up and traced it.
The shoes I bought at Payless, but I think I want different ones. They're not really that accurate. - Personal Thoughts:
- New version finally completed! What a way to see how far I've come in my skills to remake my very first costume :)
