Note: I did not use any patterns for this; all components were hand drafted by me. The shawl is made out of a stretch wool/suiting combo that I found in LA. I used the same pattern as my Christmas Ciel for the shape and added in a collar with 3 layers of interfacing. The red detailing is velvet and the white bias tape is satin. All the bias tape on this outfit was handmade by me and ironed by ~Kazuko-Rose The metal studs are actually heavy duty snaps. The bow actually snaps on to the cape and keeps it together. I have no idea what the random brown strap is in the references but it's in all of them so I added it in. The entire shawl is also lined. The shirt is actually 2 toned from what I gather in the pictures. The black is a 'silkie' which is weird fabric that they only seem to sell in SF and the white is a basic cotton. The front zips up and is hidden by black satin bias tape. The frogs on the front were dyed because I couldn't seem to find red ones. The bell sleeves were a pain and aren't as full as I would like. The ruffle at the end of the sleeves is cotton. The shirt is also lined. The skirt was interesting because I had to have someone where it in order to pin the fabric to it. So I had my friend Tim where it! lol The front flap is the same material as the shirt while the back is the same as the shawl. Everything ha to be cut while on a model to ensure that I had the right proportions... which I didn't because the front flap is too bag! DX Once again, velvet and satin for the detailing and cotton for the ruffles. The underskirt was such a pain due to the amount of fabric involved! There is 96 feet of fabric just for the ruffles so it's by far the heaviest this to wear. Not only are there a lot of riffles but they had to be box pleated too. They don't always like to sit correctly but I'm really happy with the finished product. The underskirt is all out of cotton. I also made the bloomers underneath out of cotton. I plan to re-use the bloomers for BB Hood; how convenient! The wig is a Shinku wig that I bought on Ebay. You can't tame this wig to save your life so by the end of the day it was just a ball of friz. =/ I also didn't take into account the weight, so it kept slipping back on my head the whole day. The hair ties are the same wool mentioned earlier held up by wire. I already had lace up boots; I simply replaced the laces with velveteen ribbon I found that matched the velvet I already had. My friend ~Kazuko-Rose made Gii but I did most of the patterning. She actually hand sewed him because she doesn't know how to use a machine, plus I was hogging it for most of the time anyway. He's made from the same velvet, felt and flannel. I did not make the hoop skirt or the umbrella.
- Personal Thoughts:
- UGH! THIS OUTFIT! D< For various reason I started this outfit much later than I wanted, aka, a week before I needed to premier it. Worst idea ever because all I did for a week was eat, sleep, breath, and shower this costume. I am NOT happy with how it came out and in fact, I'm not even done with it. I'm missing the crosses on the front, a metal stud in the back, it should be shorter, Nago is only at 20% and I hate how the bows came out. I'm hoping to finish/revamp it for Fanime.
