About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The cowl is made of ponte roma knit from Joann, and this fabric is crazy because sometimes it's purple, sometimes it's maroon. Which I was fine with , because Morrigan's costume is kinda like that when you compare all the different artworks. It was based off a pattern that I created. I didn't even really draft it. I just played with the fabric and I liked how it looked so I ran with it.
The skirt is vinyl on top, with faux fur hand-sewed on, and embroidery thread used for the decorative stitching. The lower portion is stretch wool. There are concealed hooks, velcro, and a zipper. I love how the skirt turned out.
The bikini top is a bra that I cut up and covered in silver/grey knit fabric. I then hand-sewed on the cording for the strings and the beads.
The upper necklace is a curved strip of vinyl with colored in shrinky dink pieces (I hate this necklace). THe middle necklace is hand made with sculpy and painted with acrylic paints. I went off the necklace from her concept art. The beads are just a string of fake beads I found at Joann and strung together.
The pauldron is a thick foamie, molded into shape with black feathers from Joann glued on (my original, more awesome one, got destroyed T.T). The sleeve is made of the same stretch wool as the skirt.
Both bracelets were purchased, and I added a vinyl belt strip to the thick one. The glove is just a pair of gloves I already had that I cut the fingers off.
I painted a set of fake nails (which took a billion coats) and wore them.
The random upper arm band is just a piece of a sleeve of a shirt that I cut off.
The leggings and boots were previously owned.
I styled my own hair for this costume. - Personal Thoughts:
- I posted a tutorial on how I made my cowl on DeviantArt: http://rexluna108.deviantart.com/#/d2zwfkr If anything doesn't make sense, go ahead and ask me!
This is absolutely my favorite costume of mine. Not just because she's my favorite character. I've gotten in touch with a lot of awesome Dragon Age fans because of this cosplay, and a lot of people on DA were with me along the way as I blogged about my progress and they really kept me going and made me feel so great about myself. It was amazing :D
ALSO! That super amazing photo manip was done by ErinM31 on DeviantArt. Here's her page, her stuff is amazing!: http://erinm31.deviantart.com
I plan on remaking this someday :D
