Not one of my favorite costumes, but one that at least turned out nicely. The under-robe and over-robe were made from cotton, and both made off the same pattern (but modified in both cases). The necklace is made from Styrofoam balls that were coated in layer after layer of paint-on lacquer, and colored paint, plus hand-made sculpy beads. The Magatama was sculpted out of sculpy, and then hollowed out in the back to make it lighter. The whole thing is strung on fishing wire, with safety pins on each end that secure to the shoulders of my under robe, in order to create the proper lay of the necklace. The obi and bow were made from a heavy sportswear cotton, with the bow hand-stitched to the obi, which closes in the back with velcro. The shoes were made from a pair of platfoam flip-flops I found at Rite Aid, and then covered with fabric that matches the obi and bow. The wig was a PAIN, as the long wig I bought had all sorts of short-hair layers in between. Eventually, I sculpted her 'top knot' by folding hair over and shaping it with freeze spray. The bobbles hanging on the wig were made using the same method as those on the necklace.
