Construction Details:

My friends and I planned a Pokemon skit for Sakuracon 2010. All of the characters were snatched up pretty quickly and I was left with Jessie. Although I wasn't too happy with the idea of cosplaying Jessie, I knew we needed her for the skit and decided to give it a shot. The costume itself was really easy but the wig was a challenge. I started from scratch - I made a wig cap and built a "cone" out of wire and boning then covered that base with felt. I used 7 packages of extensions to make wefts to cover the felt and, because the hair was so long, it was an extremely annoying process. Also, because the wig was so heavy, I had some issues just WEARING the wig. In the end, I picked up some wig clips and sewed them into the front of the wig, which worked wonders. If you ever need to wear an unbalanced/heavy wig, please consdier using wig clips - they are a life saver! I made this costume in about 5 days and it's techinically not finished. I still need to add a hairline to the front of the wig to take away the helmet-y appearance which I hope to do before Fanime.

Personal Thoughts:

Although I was kind of a brat about making this costume, I had SO MUCH FUN in the end. Holy crap you guys. People really love Pokemon and the response we got was awesome, bordering hilarious. I don't usually do the whole cosplay RP thing but it was impossible not to do as Jessie. (I think my James and I did the motto 6-7 times.)
