Construction Details:

When I saw Ciel's outfit in that episode, I knew I just had to try my hand at making it. As I was searching for reference pics of the costume, I stumbled across Skootkadoot's amazing rendition of it (I've never had to honor of speaking to you, darling, but you are amazing and such an inspiration!) and was even more enthused and determined. I spent over $100 on all the fabric (the pink satin was nice, the white material not as much - I couldn't find the right one and settled on something last minute :( ), and $60 on the wig (from greatarchy09 on ebay). The style of the wig was just perfect - length, curl, and everything - but it came in gray and I really wanted to try to make it at least slightly blue-ish. After reading around cosplay.com and getting some suggestions from friends, I decided to try sharpie-ing the wig with blue sharpie. Looks-wise, it came out great. But for actual usability...I found that sharpie comes off wigs very, very easily. I mean, my wig still stayed blue, but then, the top part of my costume, the ribbon tying on my hat, even parts of the pink dress also turned blue x.x I'm going to remake the top park of my dress and thoroughly wash my gloves - and probably buy a new wig =/ As for the costume itself - I procrastinated way too much and ended up sewing for about 50 hours over 3 days (yes, there were allnighters in there x.x). I think there were maybe 50 hours of sewing/planning/etc before that as well, so I'd mark this costume up for ~100 hours of sewing. Embarrassing secret - I actually made the top part of the dress too tight and so couldn't fit a bra under this outfit xD

Anyway, second cosplay ever and very, very proud of it :) I definitely plan on fixing it up and wearing it again. I want to play the Anime Dating Game (18+ xD) as Ciel!
