About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I made this costume entirely by hand and it took a long long time (yards of ruffles. augh X_X). I modified a circle skirt pattern to become a full length skirt, and used a historical hat pattern for the hat. It was the first time I had ever made a hat, actually, so it was definitely a learning experience. I wore a hoop skirt underneath the purple and black skirts. The cape was made from pattern from a red riding hood costume, and so was the bodice. Most of the costume was made of super expensive casa satin except for the lining which was fairly cheap and obtained at Hancock's. I couldn't get the purple color I wanted from Jo-Ann's so I ended up getting a Baroque satin like fabric from Hancock Fabrics. This costume was super fun to wear and also pretty warm with all the stockings and gloves. Also because I could take pics where I appeared crazy and like I had killed Maria and Rosa. bwa ha ha!
- Personal Thoughts:
- This was the biggest and most involved outfit I have made yet, and I feel more confident approaching more complex costumes from herein out.
