Everything is made from scratch. Started with making the Lycra leotard. Used a bathing suit that I wear as a guide for the measurements. Made the genie pants from a pattern I modified and attached them to the leotard leg holes. Did the same with the sleeves. Lots of gathering with elastic. Bought the tambourine and painted it with bubble gum pink plastic pant. Added the red bias tape to the tambourine as the hanging ribbon. The fringe on the sash I had to color to match the leotard. I bought the fringe in white, then took a fabric marker, chopped up the ink into a bowl and painted the fringe with the ink so it would match. The design on the sash was hand painted with fabric paint. The wig ironically was named "plum" and I couldn't pass that up since Sumomo's name is plum in Japanese, plus it was the perfect color! It's a 32" wig that I styled without extensions, unlike my original plan.Cut the bangs and the face framing to match hers, then the extra long hair was twisted up into a ponytail and looped through the hat top. The hat looks like a giant marshmallow on my head.^__^ It's the same material as the pants and sleeves stuffed with polyfil. I did the hat this way because I knew it would be pretty light weight and be able to be pinned in place to the wig. Oh yes and I wore my black out lenses to give that solid eye look that sumomo has. I think it made me look more computerish.lol
- Personal Thoughts:
- This is one of my favorite costume to date! It's just super fun to wear and I am pleased by how it came out. I had finished the chobits anime and really wanted to celebrate it by being my favorite character Sumomo! <3 I hope someday to cosplay this with LeeLee so she can be Kotoko like the original plan for this costume. ^_^
