Construction Details:

This costume was super cheap and easy! I began with a mascot suit pattern, but altered it so much I wouldn't recommend it. The main piece is made from a sky blue stretch knit and zips open down the front. The penguin arms have an opening on the underside so I can use my hands. The legs are elastic like bloomers and I wear bloomers under them to make them poofy! The top part is basically a hood with a large collar and a cape in the back, which my puffy little tail is sewn into. Big white pom poms are sewn on the front of the collar to represent the circles on Piplups chest without being too weird. The wig is actually a failed Sailor Mercury wig; luckily it's the perfect color! It began as a white wig and was custom dyed with FW acyrlic inks. I also made my feet from some leftover yellow fleece I had lying around. It's a simple two piece shoecover with the lines between the toes satin stitched in black thread.
