About this Costume
Construction Details:
I'm a crazy stickler for historical accuracy in militaria. This uniform is a professional replica of a British WW2 RAF uniform. This is the only costume I've ever purchased, but it was important to me that it look right. It's really hard to pull off that military, pressed, starched, ready-to-go look if it's not professionally made, and in the end I wanted to be true to the character and the period more than I wanted to be able to say "I made this." Hetalia is awesome, and the 1940's are awesome, and England is awesome, both the fake one and the real one. I really felt it was my duty to 'do right by him,' as it were. I own a lot of militaria, both RAF and otherwise, and this is by far one of my favorite pieces. The details are all authentic British military surplus items, except for the boots, which I got on ebay. (Sorry, they're one-of-a-kind.) No voting for me in the contest, please, I just wanted to show my support for Hetalia and ACP! *cheerleader pose!*
Personal Thoughts:
This costume is what I wear most to conventions nowadays. It's easy to get into when I'm working and comfortable to wear all day. Most of these pictures were obviously taken in London, which is a really special place that's very dear to my heart. I don't love England because I love England, but I do love them both, and we couldn't pass up the opportunity while we were there. (There are even some special candid photos at the very end.)
