About this Costume
Construction Details:
I plan on doing multiple Vocaloid Magnet versions of Kaito. The first is a fan art version with Miku, followed by (in no particular order) Gakupo version and Len version.

The template for the all the wings were originally produced by fenlaf.

The first version I did was the fanart version with Miku. The headphones are Sony headphones that I cut the wire away and built from there. The headband is black lace sewn to white satin then sewn/glued to the existing headband. The wings are made from turquoise stock paper, black paper stock, and black posterboard. Rhinestones in blue, turquoise, and clear were glued onto the the wings even though they do not exist in the original art. I couldn't cut out all the little designs so I replaced them with rhinestones. The earpieces were built up with black foam board, black plastic tape, a rubber stamp and white ink, black stock paper, and aqua green scrapbooking paper. The wires were handmade and then placed into and glued to the foam board. The mic is made from an existing white microphone that was painted over, rhinestones added, and then glued into the foam board part of the earpieces.

The outfit for the Kaito/Miku version is basic black. The pants are recycled from numerous other cosplays that require black pants. The boots are platforms I have only worn once before and fit the theme perfectly. The top is the newest part. It's made out of slightly stretchy black sateen cotton; it's not stretchy enough for me to get my head through so there is an invisible zipper sewn into the left side. The sleeves were marked off with tailor's chalk and then satin stitched to give it the ribbony look. The hem of the top is asymmetrical to show off the dark blue hip scarf/sash I added. Fingerless gloves were purchased off of eBay and are reusable for other Magnet cosplays.
