Construction Details:

Mascot body I drafted off of an animal suit pattern but put my own spin on. I sewed the feet and hands to the suit so it would all be one piece. Added a hood to the body suit and hand sewn on the ears. Tail was made separate, stuffed with polyfil and pinned on to my back because if I sewed it on I wouldn't have been able to zip up the back. Washed the fur a couple of times before I used it to try to soften it, but it still came out a lot stiffer than I had wanted. Like my Chopper costume, I picked through all the seams with a T pin. This tries to mask all the seam lines.

Personal Thoughts:

I made this for my Swan Lake group I put together for Nekocon 2009. We performed my dream skit. Why Swan Lake you ask? Because this was my very first anime that I realized was from Japan. It was 1994 when I watched it on the Disney Channel. I fell head over heals for it and it's beautiful animation. Swan Lake left such a great impression on me that I made it my goal to watch as many Japanese animated shows and movies that I could. So you could say it was what started it all for me. It had really special meaning for me, so for one of my last cons of my 10th year of conning anniversary, I wanted to celebrate with a tribute to the anime that was my starting point.
