About this Costume
Construction Details:
A brown suede military jacket with two zippers that zip down, so that I can have it open at the bottom. The shorts are fake Halloween leather stuff. Gold deco is gold brocade, and why not, the entire jacket is properly lined in gold brocade as well. Hat is handmade, and has my lovely 75 cent pin that I also used for Chopin, and will definitely use for another costume in the future. Straps were random camera straps/purse straps/etc. that people didn't want and had given to me. Socks were bought, but I added the button so that it can button onto my pants. Boots are totally 4 dollars and made me so excited :).
Personal Thoughts:
I've been wanting to do steampunk costumes for a while, so when Siham asked us to do the fashion show for AUSA, I was really excited. I began working off of WWI/WWII military uniforms that I found online, and went on to do whatever I wanted with it haha. The zippers were based on the Persona 3 uniforms. The fabric for the jacket was some fabric my mother had picked up for 6 dollars are a yard sale and had no use for it, so I took it. Once again, I felt that it was a good idea to line it in chinese brocade -- which made whitelilly line her outfit in the same stuff too haha (sorry I'm crazy!). Yeah yeah, Maverick, I know. I didn't want to use the Maverick, but I had no time. Anyway, the show went well. Whitelilly and I forced Siham to go on as a pair, and got to showcase the book I bought the previous day from HomeGoods that fit my Nerf gun perfectly. Hooray. The only upsetting thing about this costume is that I bought goggles for it, but in the end, my hat was too fancy already that the goggles were too much for the costume hahaha.
