So much trim work!!! But I made everything for this, except the thigh highs. It's all cotton and I spend about three weeks (while doing other things) on it. The shoes were bought at Goodwill and altered. I used so much interfacing in this. Its in the shoes to make the flap stand up, and double layered in the tabard. This was the first time I made my own trim. I normal cheat with bias tape, but the trim had to match the designs on the front and back. So it had to be made from the same fabric. I made all the white trim as well, and I am proud of all the angels. The designs on the tabard I used good old heat and bond to applique. If I satin stitched them I felt I would have to use that treatment for the trim edge to match, and I was running out of time. The dagger I bought at the Dollar Tree and covered the handle in Model Magic and made a sheath out of it too. It twisty ties onto the belt.
- Personal Thoughts:
- We decided we were going to do Tales of the Abyss for AAC 09 just after AAC 08. I grew my hair out for a year and then cut bangs in. Fist time with bangs since I was in the 5th grade I think. But I kinda like them. For AAC I used a curling iron that day. At AB I tried to do the same-- but I had forgot my shampoo and the hotel shampoo made my hair greasy and gross and wouldn't hold the curl. For Portcon I packed my own shampoo, and put my hair up in the old foam rollers. Yes I slept in them, but my hair looked good the next day! The quest I went on to find white thigh highs was crazy! 4 Wal-marts, 2 Targets, 1 Koles, Sears, then finally Kmart had a set with guarders. Well couldn't use those and they kept sliding down. So just before the Masquerade at AAC I started to tape them up. After when I went to take them off I realized that had been a bad plan, because the tape ruined the only pair of thigh highs I had... So I found sockdream.com and have some more ordered. I was so excited that everyone on the Masquerade staff of AAC cosplayed this together. We decided that since we worked so hard on them, we will put them to use. We entered the Portcon Masquerade. It was so much fun. Used again for the 18+ dating game at AB 2011. I got clip in pony tails and it finally looks right!
